Theodore is a SunSmart school and adheres to the 'no hat no play' approach. Children without hats at recess or lunch play in the junior or senior shade shelters. Students without a hat for sport will need to be supervised in a shaded area while not participating. Students must wear a bucket hat or legionnaires hat during outdoor breaks and activities. Teachers are also required to wear an appropriate hat at all times when outside for activities or duty.
Head lice are extremely contagious but easily eradicated. Students with either eggs or live lice will be excluded from school until treatment is completed. Please report any cases of head lice to the front office.
For further information please see the Directorate's policy.
Theodore Primary School encourages home reading. In the junior school students are supplied with a home reading booklet and folder as part of student book packs. In the senior school home reading is encouraged through set homework tasks and take home readers are also available for senior students. We encourage borrowing of books from our school library.
The school's Homework Policy clearly sets out the amount of written work and reading to be completed each week. It is expected that every student from Kindergarten to Year 6 will read daily at home.
